Truly believing his people oppressed and deserving a better lot than what they get, he seeks to leave a telling mark upon Gridania.

A reminder that his people will not be forgotten nor buried in the dark in silence.

The world is his stage, the people his audience. With himself as the voice of the silent suffering.
“I shall heal the wounds of the forgotten, the downtrodden, reviled and misbegotten. Mine is the hand of mercy, in a world that knows none."

Appearance

Rhythm of the Righteous
Galenaux wears a long dropper earring that hangs from a steel chain on his right ear. Every weighted step he takes causes the earring to softly chime in unison like a small bell. Design wise it looks like an ornate, needle like hand of a clock.

Sanctuary of Steel
His armour clings and compresses against his body similar to a second skin. Every step he takes is heavy, with his left leg lagging behind. It's as if he's being weighed down by his own shell. The constricting metal seems to breathe with him.

All That is Left
Galenaux moves as if he puppets a blackened metal cage. Each motion is methodical, leading to delayed motions. He moves as if a practiced ventriloquist is pulling on a marionettes invisible strings. Rigid, yet uncannily fluid in nature.

Testament
He can sometimes be seen carrying a highly condensed, hardback leather Librum of archaic origin. The book is decorated with a web of golden plated steel. It bares a large ruby gemstone embedded within the spine.

Serpent's Kiss
A highly ornate, heavy steel serrated dagger carefully hidden within his boot. The teeth of the blade lock backwards to make manual removal difficult. No doubt the man has applied venom to this vicious blade.

Roleplaying Hooks

Easy Hooks

Compulsive Collector

The man displays an odd compulsion to see out and record knowledge in the form of documents and tomes.

Texts regarding myths and legends, old and archaic magics, biology and anatomy, philosophy, Eorzean diseases and Eorzean history seem to be of particular interest.

It has been noted he has also been eager to listen to storied individuals regarding their history and experiences. Though conversely, hardly ever discussing much, if anything about himself.

"Time to talk? Always. But I have even more to give simply to listen. Care to share?"

Caressing Cage of Shining Steel

The man often adorns himself with heavy armour when forced into city states or highly public settings.

The armour typically encases his entire body, to the point none would see an inch of skin. The armour despite being thick and heavy, squeezes, compresses his body akin to a metal vice or constricting cage.

The sound of clicking and locking of the structural design of articulated joints creates a mix of heavy mechanical impacts, high-tension creaking and a final, resonant thud with each step.

He almost looks mechanical due to his rigid frame, jerky gait and sluggish, calculated movements.

Industrial Advance

He has recently joined the Adventurers guild, seemingly looking for stable employment and connections.

He is known however, to not have the best track record due to his slow movement speed, poor mobility and limited vision in his protective plate.

The man announces the presence of his party through his metallic shell and delicate earring ringing like a bell. Stealth with him was never an option. Though he does show excellent capability for locating unseen enemies via hearing.

Due to his highly specialized kit, skills and limitations, he's been known to struggle finding the right group for him long term.

Helping Hand

Despite his physical debilitation, he seems oddly eager to join adventuring parties.

He usually joins groups as a healer, taking a supporting role in the back lines. He seems particularly drawn to certain people more than others.

"Do keep me safe, would you? I'll be certain to keep you safe from enemies in turn. Always a pleasure to be of service."

Archaic Academia

He is hardly ever seen without a tome of some sort on his person. No matter which book he possesses he always seems exceptionally defensive over its contents.

At first glance the tomes appear normal enough. What would justify such possessiveness? Perhaps those versed in aetherology, aethersight or bibliography may find out.

He has begun searching for additional knowledge within the confines of the city state of Sharlayan.

Virtue of Charity

The man seems oddly charitable when it comes to his practice of magical healing and standard, non medical triage. To the point they are offered fairly freely and quite often, even to complete strangers and especially Gridanians.

"The cost of caring is free. No strings attached. Trust me, I'm a medical professional."

Open Arms for the Orphans

Galenaux has been known to frequently visit orphanages located in city states when clad in white, robed plate armour.

Those working at such establishments may note he drops off toys, books, clothing, monetary donations and food supplies. All of which seem to be surprisingly high quality.

It Takes Two

Galenaux is known to enjoy a pass-time of friendly duelling and sparring, engaging those who gain his interest in a round or two for personal enjoyment. He's been known to treat such experiences as mix of theatre and study.

Collecting Contacts

The man is very eager to make contacts with people of what he deems to be of exceptional skill or intrigue. As of late, he has shown a fascination with the city state of Sharlayan, with a special vested interest in the Bibliothec, Circle of Knowing and The Forum.

Though it seems almost any individual can catch his attention, if they happen to fit his general interests, needs or wants.

Ishgardian Anonymity

The man displays an unusual habit of masking around as an Ishgardian at points.

Why he does this? Is anyone's guess. Maybe people have seen him around clad in white robed armour. He does seem especially fond of rubbing shoulders with individuals of political sway, however.

OOC TLDR:

I am 30+, would rather people I roleplay with to be 21+.

I am not a fan of ERP.
Especially when it comes out of no-where. The man is in 90 pounds of reinforced steel. He's not designed around intimacy.

I stick to lore as much as possible. I prefer lore abidant characters as a result, with some wiggle room for light lore bending.

Roleplaying Hooks
Medium Hooks

Pomander Practitioner
He is well versed in the creation and recreation of herb filled vessels known as Pomanders. Though the effects of his particular pomanders were said to be volatile, his restorative versions are said to be relatively potent.

Mental Mastery
He has a history of specifically singling out scholars, professors, philosophers, even therapists to a degree.

The reason he does so doesn't appear very clear at a glance, though he has left more than his fair share in a less than stable state afterwards.
"I am not a broken man, but you appear to be. Care to talk?"

Debt is Due
Galenaux operates with a Specialist's precision when it comes to favors and service. He is known to keep written documentation of his acts, complete with names. All while being attentive to the 'balance' of his interactions. He often referencing the 'Symphony of Exchange', while never acting on rewards or payment for his charity.

Beacon in the Brume
He has occasionally beeen seen wandering through the most delapidated and forgotten corners of the Ishgrdian Brume, in search of individuals who are struggling medically or financially.

He offers free healing and medical assistance to those in dire need. Alongside repairs for damaged clothing.

Analyst of Anatomy
Galenaux has shown a shocking degree of familiarity when it comes to spoken races anatomy. To the point one could call it an obsession. While he makes for an effective surgeon, especially when it comes to broken bones and damaged nerves.
"Oh trust me. I know exactly where it hurts most."

Empire's End
Connection Type: Imperial Legion/Frumentarii
Galenaux was known to have worked under the Garlean Empire's banner for over a decade.

Those whom stood with the Empire and have access to records may note he was stationed within the XIVth Imperial Legion within the 3rd cohort.

Members of the Imperial Legion can relatively easily determine the man is classed as an Aquilifier.

Subdivision Connection: Werlyt, Imperial Legion/Frumentarii
Once the XIV'th was defeated, he was reassigned to Werlyt within the reformed VII'th Legion, under the command of Valens van Varro.

His role is poorly documented, though with enough digging a person could find he holds more than one title.

After the VIIth Legion fell, he was assumed dead after the revolt and expulsion of the VIIth Legions occupation as he hurled himself off a cliff in Terncliff into the ocean in front of a crowd.
"There was no mourning for the man that fell that day.
Instead an ideal was born from the ashes that once was."

I'm a multi-paragraph/novella-style poster. With an average post size of 2-3 paragraphs. I usually try to mirror and match accordingly.

I am second language English, so I may take slightly longer than expected to post in order to spell and grammar check myself.

I am 30+ years old, and will request that characters and players be at least 21 years of age in order to engage.

ERP isn't everything in roleplay; I find it dull, boring and unengaging when it's blatantly all that a person cares for. The man is literally encased in 90 pounds of reinforced steel. He's not made for sexual advances, with that being but one of the many reasons he's not suited for it.

My character is lore-abiding, and I prefer interacting with characters that are generally so as well.

Light lore-bending is fine if it makes sense and doesn't contradict the canon lore of the game, as I value consistency.

Gale as a character is designed around long term, slow burn engagements and relations. Please don't expect to be best friends right away.

Roleplaying hooks
Hook index

Easy hooks are generally applicable for anyone to know. There's no real restrictions on these ones beyond your own judgement.

Medium hooks are slightly more specific, such as passing rumours that may or may not be true, that are also not widely known to the general public.

If you want to use one of these, I merely ask it makes sense for your character to know said information.

Hard hooks aren't off-limits, but they require your character to have very specific connections and information.
They have been labelled with relevant connection information and spoilered to avoid self-spoilers.

Feel free to check with me if you wish to use them!

Types of roleplay

I'm fairly experienced when it comes to roleplay, with a few years of experience across multiple MMOs and genres across the board. This is especially true in the MMO World of Warcraft and surprisingly Wildstar as well (RIP).

The types of roleplay I'm decent at include:

Adventure/Combat Roleplay - D20/100/Freemote
Body Horror - Light to Moderate
Character Driven Interactions
Character Rivalries
Criminal/Crime/Mystery
Grim and Mature roleplay - Non Sexual
Long-Term Engagements
Light Comedy
Puzzle/Riddle/Problem Solving
Story Based Roleplay
Wholesome/Slice of life
